The first name for this hill range was’Papidi Kondalu’. Papidi is a rough translation for partition in Telugu. Papi Kondalu needs to be reached by ship from Rajahmundry, Pattisam (35 kilometers from Rajahmundry), Polavaram (40 kilometers from Rajahmundry), Kunavaram (50 kilometers from Bhadrachalam) or Sriram Giri (60 km from Bhadrachalam). The boat service from Rajahmundry into Bhadrachalam is a wonderful experience and it’s operated in post monsoon season.
Aside from appreciating the view of the hills, valley, and waterfalls, tourists can take part in activities such as trekking and camping. There are few private operators that offer 2-day trips from Rajahmundry having an overnight stay at Kollur Bamboo Resort. Trips normally start early morning between 6 to 9 AM. One must book the ship and the huts beforehand through tourist agencies or AP Tourism.
